After freezing a brown ripe banana and an ultra-sweet mango, which I personally like to keep handy at home at all times if possible. When I notice bananas start to get really spotty and know I won’t get to eat them any time soon then I slice each one in fours and toss them in a zip lock bag for when I need to make smoothies. So toss your frozen banana (4 pieces), 1 whole sliced up frozen mango, and 14 jackfruit pods without the seeds (you can eat them we just won't this time but don’t throw them away! I’ll tell you why below) and splash it with unsweetened coconut milk (slowly pour and you can keep adding more as you blend to get to your ideal consistency). For this smoothie recipe go heavy on the superstar fruit we’re highlight here, so add as many frozen bananas and magos but keep in mind you don’t want to overpower that candy jackfruit taste. You know you’re done blending when you get that glowing yellow and soft serve appearance. Pour it into your favorite smoothie glass and top it with a scoop of half a passion fruit and sprinkle it with unsweetened (preferably) shredded coconut.
You’ll be taking your palette on a fun ride with this one as it has so many sweet flavors and textures, making it fun to enjoy with a friend or on your own for a little mood boost!
Have you noticed how this amazing fruit often replaces meat in vegan/vegetarian recipes like “pulled jackfruit buns” or “jackfruit tacos”?? That’s because besides the likeable texture in the fruit, it has so much protein and nutrients in it! Jackfruit is high in vitamin C, A, and B6. This is why jackfruit has been used as a remedy for skin diseases and asthma. It helps us maintain healthy eyes, skin, teeth, gums and bones. The phytonutrients found in jackfruit not only prevent cancer cells from forming in the body, it lowers blood pressure, and slows down degeneration of cells that make the skin look young. The copper content helps thyroid, metabolism, aiding in smooth bowel movement. It’s rich in carbohydrates and fructose allowing us to feel energetic and its big source of iron treats anemia. Now that’s powerful!
Try this smoothie 30 minutes before a workout or in the morning as your breakfast. Its loaded with just the right amount of protein and energy to get you ready to crush your workout or set a bright tone for the rest of the day!
I don’t know about you but lately I am way into whatever is going to keep my face and skin looking young! Here’s how you can make your own naturally beautified mask with this miracle fruit: Grind the jackfruit pit until you get this magic powder that you will then blend with milk until you get a thick paste (feel free to add a bit of honey, honey). Gently massage it on your face, or just around the spots where you see premature aging lines or acne and let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then wash if off with cold water. Doing this mask at least once a week will also help heal blemishes and get rid of unwanted pigmentation.
